In the design of flexible circuit board (FPC), FPC board impedance control is a very important process. Because the space inside the FPC board product is very small, on the one hand, we need enough lines to meet the needs of signal transmission, on the other hand, each signal line requires differential impedance. Therefore, the requirements for FPC boards impedance control are very strict.
1、 Layered method. Realizing impedance difference on one layer of FPC board may be restricted by space, but we can divide it into multiple layers. Some lines can be placed on the first layer, and others on the other layer, which is equivalent to doubling the space for each layer of lines. This often solves the problem.
2、 Bypass method. The design limitation of many FPCs is often the connector. The width at the golden finger end can remain unchanged, but the width at the middle end has a lot of room to change, which virtually brings us a lot of space for design.
3、 Layering+detour method. As the name implies, this method combines the above two methods to solve the problem of impedance difference.
